Frequent Questions
1 / How do we start?
We begin with a no-cost 20-minute online consultation to see if we're a good fit. Your first full session will also be online, where we'll discuss the contract, explore your goals, and agree on how we will work together. After that, sessions can take place outdoors—whether walking, sitting, or combining both—depending on your needs. Outdoor sessions typically last 50 minutes.
2 / Where do sessions take place?
Routes and outdoor spaces are agreed for mutual convenience, using safe and accessible areas around Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, or Tunbridge Wells. You may choose routes with opportunities to sit partway through, and we can either stick to a regular location or vary routes based on your preference.
3 / How active do I need to be?
Sessions are adapted to your pace and preferences. We can walk, pause, sit, or use outdoor spaces creatively to suit your needs. Some routes may include hills or uneven ground, but we will discuss accessibility beforehand and select a location that works for you. If you have any health concerns, it’s advisable to seek professional medical advice before engaging in new outdoor activities.
4 / Do I need any specialist equipment?
No specialist equipment is required, unless you normally use mobility aids. Please wear clothing suitable for outdoor conditions, such as sturdy footwear, layers, a coat, hat, sunscreen, and gloves depending on the weather.
5/ What if the weather is bad?
Safety comes first. I will carry out a risk assessment for each session, but you are responsible for your own safety. If conditions make it unsafe or too uncomfortable to meet outdoors, we can either reschedule or hold the session online. We'll agree on the best way to communicate about changes (e.g., text, phone, or email).
6/ What if I try it and don't like it?
If outdoor sessions don't feel right for you, we can talk it through and consider other options, including continuing sessions online or indoors. You can cancel the therapy contract with one week's notice within the first 6 weeks, and with two weeks' notice thereafter.
7/ What type of therapy do you practice?
I am a BACP registered integrative therapist (MBACP), tailoring therapy to your individual needs. I draw on a range of approaches, such as exploring childhood relationships (psychodynamic), working with current thinking and behaviour patterns (cognitive behavioural), or using creative methods like visualisation, storytelling, or artwork. The approach will be collaborative, flexible, and responsive to you.
8/ What are the fees?
The 20-minute initial consultation is free. Ongoing sessions are £80 each. Limited concessionary rates are available for those who need them—please feel free to ask if this might apply to you.
